I am a student of the Western esoteric sciences both from a theoretical and practical point of view since 1996. One of the areas of Western Esoteric thinking I found most interesting is astrology, and I devoted substantial time to study astrology and access its worth as a system. For most people astrology is at best a game, but for me I had gone that step further of checking everyday where the planets are and aligning my life with those planetary trends.
Astrology was long ago seen as one of the sacred sciences. Today it is eclipsed by astronomy as we try to understand the physical universe man inhabits. Yet there remains a need in each of us to feel connected to a bigger world and sense its significance. We are looking for a means to make our every day life more meaningful. More than ever in a modern age people are rediscovering the value of astrology as a means to improve their quality of life and act with far greater certainty and gaining much better results by acting in accord to astrological patterns.
But astrology also had a different side to it. Astrology was, for those mystics who sought God’s fingerprint in the cosmos, a means of aligning their lives with cosmic patterns. Today we see this manifest in horoscopes in newspapers and magazines that broadly touch on the positioning of the sun during birth. The general popular approach is to look at the planets to see how these planets will influence mankind. However the mystics, who wanted to align themselves with a more expansive, uncorrupted divine plan, looked at the stars and chose to align their actions with the stars. For them this approach brought more meaning to their lives, since they were active participants in a wider plan. This approach brought a sense of peace and meaning to their lives as they looked towards the sky to divine the will of the creator. I maintain that the feeling of being lost and without direction can be negated by looking at astrology as a means to empower one’s life with a universal pattern of significance.
The system of astrology is a comprehensive psychological view of man…personified through the planets and star signs. It is a system that looks at establishing harmony between different conflicting elements by acknowledging the cyclic movement of planets. In astrology there is a time for everything. This approach, of understanding the positioning of the planets, creates a perspective where man is not isolated from the universe. Man is a microcosm of a bigger macrocosm and by following the rhythm of the solar system of which man is part, man becomes a more unified and harmonious being.
This website explores an alternative approach to astrology where I am an active participant in the astrological process. I am not entertaining the idea of whether or not astrology can predict or effect events but rather look how I can apply the positions of planets to guide my life. In that way life becomes predictive. I know where the planets are today and I know where they will be tomorrow and plan my life in accordance with those positions. In that way my life does becomes a bit more predictable. By looking at a bigger cosmic pattern, to which I align myself, I gain a much more aware and confident view of the life that I am living. There is a difference from being a victim of astrological positions and purposefully aligning yourself with those positions. The latter becomes a constant process of rhythmic change and awareness.
Astrology is a system that works since it is also a system that teaches us about life and the process of living. I am through the system much more aware of differences between people and how to be sensitive to cosmic influences. I look at planetary positions and what they mean and then look for opportunities during the day to utilise that pattern of thinking to my own benefit. By following this approach my life became more meaningful and purposeful and I do believe that it is not unique to me but that it can be of value to anybody that want to foster a deeper connection with the solar system we call home.
