The Father

The mother, the matriarch, keeps the family together,
The father sacrifice himself for the seed he planted,
Patriarchy, the willing offer for prosperity
to bless the future generations with opportunity
Often unappreciated, often blamed for not enough
the silent suffering and giving continues relentlessly
Knowing, the future will be dry and bare
Pushed aside when children’s smile mature
Left to bleed when old age claims back its energy
When there is no more to offer except an empty hand
Loneliness will be the prize taken with pride
yet there will be no regret in the life led
in society’s shun, a still knowing blooms
wisdom pried from the hands of endurance.

Lessons learned from child’s delight.

Tender memories sparkled with youthful smiles.

Recognized the need to return to innocence within.

A call back to the eternal Source of life’s embrace.
