Life lessons

To be conscious and know your true nature you must observe yourself, to observe yourself you must remember yourself.

To remember yourself you must be mindful.

To be truly mindful you must remember your past and understand how actions and thought sets circumstances in motion.

Your perspective determines how conditions limit your life.

Limitations are removed by building into your thought patterns the principles op potential, opportunity and possibility.

Once you have discovered the creative aspect of your being you learn to be more through service and fellow kindness.

Once you understand that compassion drives your individuality and self worth you realise virtue are the wings for spiritual ascend.

Once virtue becomes the core of being the material world becomes less important, less of a limitation.

  • What you are becomes more important than what you have and you experience a freedom and lightness of being – a true liberty as an individual integrated into society through creative expression of self through altruism.

In altruism you find meaning that connects you to a deep feeling of being connected to the universe.

Being honest with oneself

It takes courage to be honest with oneself. When we are honest with ourselves we see our weaknesses, doubts and vulnerabilities clearly, yet that knowledge is making us stronger more vigorous and courageous. As I age, I realize the calamity of wasted years. Times when I did not present myself in my full uniqueness. There are times when I have failed myself and times of successes. People are quick to judge and condemn if we do not remember to tell our own stories of being. I must tell my own story, I should not shed blame but but take responsibility. It is my decisions that brought me to the present moment and it is my decisions that will take me into the next moment and the next.

The power flows from the present moment into the existence of being. My time line is stretched like a lightning bolt across the tapestry of infinity. I must free myself from the bondage that keeps me back. I call on the rune thor as an expression of my will to give energy to the desire I express. I am a creative being and therefore I continue to create the future that I desire. This is a dichotomy that we have to live with. We live in a state where we can just go with the flow and allow things to be as they are….this is a path of passive bliss. On the other side there is the path of active creation where we express our will and focus it to bring that image of our mind into manifestation.

As with all dyadic poles neither the one or the other is the full picture even though they are strategies acceptable in their own right. The wise man know when to apply which tactic. In passive acceptance life follows its own momentum and in active creativity we exert an influence on life’s momentum. I wish I can write more, I wish I can truly allow myself to be free to explore my own minds and thoughts. There is a great pleasure in walking through the value of thoughts and experience new ideas, new thoughts and imagination blooming.

Body awareness.

My journey through the zodiac is talking me through Virgo at the moment. We start with a question relating to body awareness.

How often in your daily life are you listening to cues from your body? How much do you trust its intelligence when making choices?

Both Reiki self-healing and Yoga offers me the opportunity to listen to cues from the body. Reiki-self-healing requires time of focusing on various parts of the body for several minutes, consequently one become aware of how the body feels and reacts.

Yoga is also a process of discovering body awareness. Especially during relaxing postures like the child pose or the corpse pose. I have for example discovered a thick bite during one of my yoga sessions. While you stretch and work your body through the various postures the body awareness is increased and then a pose like the corpse pose allow you to tune into the whole body.

TRE (Trauma /Tension Release Exercises) is the one practice that taught me how truly intelligent the body is. You cannot make your body tremor, you have to allow the body to tremor. You cannot make your body tremor at a specific way you learn to trust your body to tremor on the way it is needed. The more you allow the body to follow its own way, the quicker and effective the healing process. One of the biggest challenges to overcome is to learn to trust the body to find the tension and release it.

Given the practice of Reiki, Yoga and TRE I learned much about body awareness and trust in the body inherent intelligence. I do not know if there are better techniques for body awareness but they are certainly effective. I have also learned that when one improve your sleep and diet then your body intelligence deepens and teach you how to maintain an inner harmony and balance in the body.

Authenticity

I am still following the sign of Leo in the book “your zodiac soul”. The premise is that in Leo the soul learns to express itself authentically and it requires some contemplation on a few questions.

In what way do I try to hard to make an impression?

My “trying too hard” probably manifest in saying too easily “yes” . Even when I have the inner strenght to say “no”, I still often feel an inner struggle for saying no. I suppose I would like to keep everybody happy and it is not always possible.  I try hard to make an impression on people that will prevent us from becoming entangled in a difference or disagreement of some type. My gift to the world is to found synergy or win-win solutions and most of the times there are almost always a manner for getting a better solution that assists all parties. However, the reality is that it is not all the times and some times when the rift is just to wide, then conflict cannot be avoided. This is the point where I tend to “try to hard”.

How do others respond when I am authentically shining my light in the world?

I have always promoted the idea of living authentically although I also had to often question the degree to which I succeed in living authentically.  One probably think if you live authentically and shine that it is a good thing. The reality is that when you are at your best and you are not shy to show it then many people look at it with envy. You have to deal with the boastful that tries to outperform you….even if it is just in storytelling to the person that jsut simply hate you for something you can do well. In my own experience it is either these reactions or you get people that truly trust you because they can see that you are shining in an area that you have developed your skills. I have found that most people take time to trust you and they will initially test you to see if your skill is real. Words, alone, count for very little in the world if it is not supported by some action. That is why the Stoic principle to align your words with action is so important.  Authenticity can build trust but often people first have to travel through the valey of doubt.

10 habits when attending meetings that will develop into a skill of being effective in meetings:

1. Prepare for meetings. Clarify what the intent of the meeting is before the meeting starts.
2. Understand your role in the meeting… Are you there to lead, provide input or listen?
3. Understand the role of other meeting participants and ensure they are heard.
4. Acknowledge good points that are raised. When you differ from someone don’t get emotional, stay factual. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarity when things are not clear.
5. Be conscious of time, keep your contributions to the point, be accurate and short.
6. Try to find at least one learning point of interest from the meeting. Jot it down and share it with someone outside the meeting.
7. Summarize the meeting outcomes, don’t rely on meeting minutes alone.
8. Share your understanding of key points from the meeting with stakeholders both inside and outside of the meeting.
9. Take an action based on the meeting within 24 hours after a meeting
10. Continue to develop your skill of participating in meetings, don’t accept it as a chore but see it as an area for your own continuous improvement.
