Stepping up to your glory

I am still busy working slowly throught the book “your zodiac soul” and I am contemplating a set of questions relating to the starsign of Leo. Leo is strongly connected to the sun and it poses the question of how we express ourselves and the best of ourselves. Being a Stoic, this is a very important consideration for although I need to express myself with humility it also must be with a force and presence that makes a difference to everybody.

In what ways am I playing small and not stepping into the glory of who I really am?

This question requires from me to be both boastful on what I know I have but also humble in acknowledgement of what I am not fully offering the world.

I am a distinguished Toastmaster and has developed my communication skills especially when it comes to public speaking. I have not really been able to unlock this skill in my profession. I have used it where I can and embraced opportunities to apply this skill but I have not been able to design it as a persistent feature of a regular interaction. Maybe I need to start a vlog on Youtube at least for a few months and see where it leads me. But like with my blogging I am not that interested in impressing many people. In my life I try to connect with the few that will truly resonate with my thinking and thought. But maybe there is room to play the role of populism and focus on topics that truly makes a difference. But public speaking is definitely the one area I have neglected and which I should put into my plans to incorporate more effectively into my own workspace.

As an industrial engineer I have a particular systems perspective on the world and a skill to analys issues from a broader sperspective. I do not think in my professional life I give credence enough to this capability. I assume to much that other people should have a similar insight. I can make a more consistent effort to highlight issues, designs and solutions from a different systems perspective. I can still step up stronger into being a leader if I take up the time to really embrace my current role and aim to the highest level of professionalism within that role. I can step up by bringing my full professional background to the table and to use it as an effective communication tool to engage with different people towards increasing productivity and cost effectiveness.

As a mystic I am empowered with several techniques and tools to live my life optimally. It takes a constant shift in consciousness to move away from an intellectual and philosophical paradigm to applying these skills in the real world to address real world situations. In my personal life, work life and social life these skills add great value and yet I do not think I have even scratched the surface of what can actually be accomplished. I am still very much like a child playing in the safe area as if these tools and techniques are only toys. Where I have stepped up to actually use what I know the impact and effect was considerable and inspiring. I probably do not step up often enough for the simple reason that I follow old habits too easily rather than taking the time to focus my energy through a stronger magnifying glass.

So those are the three immediate areas I can think about that I need to step up in. I am sure there are many more but that is what I have time to write about. The aim for whomever might stumble on this blog entry is not to be informed about me not stepping up but hopefully these will serve as examples for a personal enquiry. I hope this entry will inspire people to consider the question by themselves:

Where do you fail to step up?

What is your opinion?
