I love the Cho Ku Rei symbol in Reiki for its symplicity and yet powerful imagery. I can easily relate to the symbol without too much effort. As I meditated on this symbol this morning I thought that it is high time that I develop a book of symbols for myself and that the Cho Ku Rei will definitely feature prominently in such a book.
The spiral on the penetrating down line reminds me of the rose upon the cross which gives new insight of the power symbol used to amplify Reiki energy or Vital life Force for healing and other reiki operations.
The symbol carry within itself the idea of gathering, penetrating and focusing energy. When drawing the Cho Ku Rei i feel that line 1 gathers the energy, line 2 draws the energy in and line 3 focus the energy. Thus it is a symbol of gathering, drawing it in and focusing it towards a specific and clear intent.
Cho – to cut , Ku – to penetrate, Rei – to apply universally
