My rules of success

I attended a Dreaming and Visioning workshop lead by a female shaman an her husband, Siri and Paul Barker. They are both beautiful people with a lot to offer. The venue was a house but absolutely a superb venue with a lovely vantage point over a golf course. The day was different in that she called on the spirits and forefathers for their assistance during an opening ceremony and thanked them for he closing ceremony. She did not requested other participants to call on spirits but to call on whatever higher power each is comfortable with. I simply called as a Rosicrucian the God of my heart ad the God of my understanding and for a connection with my Higher self/Master within/Guardian angel.  The rest of the day was pretty standard starting with an analysis of the previous year and looking at what has been achieved and what not. After the what has not been achieved a simple ritual of burning was conducted to free everybody from negative feelings resulting from failures or from negative events in the past year.
The midsection was new for me even though might not be totally new in terms of thinking. They asked us to look at what has been achieved and what not and then to deduce from them our rules of success. That is what did we do to achieve success and what could we have done to be more successful.   That for me was the most significant difference in the day from other planning sessions I did in the past. Focusing on the rules for success is a very enabling process and well worth considering. The rules of success is firstly personal but it is also allowing one to know yourself better in terms of the success recipe’s that you apply in your own word.  This is the list that I came up with:
  1. Be aware of opportunity and correct timing
  2. Set clear intent
  3. Make your effort consistent, one step each day
  4. Develop a habit of success
  5. Leverage all your skills/abilities
  6. Be patient
  7. Be responsive to opportunity
  8. Crowed out the unhealthy
  9. Know when to say “No”
  10. Set priorities and commit to them
  11. Save money, time and resources
  12. Find new ways to the desired end state- equafinality
  13. Maintain a healthy life style
  14. Discipline yourself and reward yourself
  15. Focus on a virtuous life/equanimity
  16. Know your full potential
  17. Take calculated risks
  18. Rely on your intuition
  19. Build value networks
  20. Brand yourself
  21. Be confident in yourself
  22. Be the solution
  23. Take action immediately when an opportunity presents itself/ Prudence
  24. Use reason and logic
  25. Always set a high standard for yourself even in small things
  26. Be willing to ask for help.
The latter part of the day was to start and document our visions for 2016. I am not satisfied with my final list of things but I am happy that I have got a starting point to work with so early in the year. We ended the day with a guided meditation, lying flat on our backs and a closing ritual.
