The rune KA as feminine principle

I have placed Rune KA as an esoteric feminine principle to my subconscious mind before I retired to bed last night. This morning I complete that reflection based on the thoughts and images that arose from my night’s sleep. The subconscious mind is a faithful friend to bring to light answers to my questions.

To consider something from an esoteric perspective is to look beyond its literal or surface meaning to its hidden or deeper meaning. It is to seek the underlying truth or essence of something, which may be hidden from ordinary sight or understanding

The feminine in esoteric terms always related to me to the  receptive impulse in the law of three. The law of three states that for anything to come into being an independent affirmative impulse must meet an independent receptive impulse, that will negate, accept or redirect the affirming impulse to result in a third independent reconciling impulse.

To illustrate the law of three in sexual terms. A man must deposit sperm into the woman to create life. However it is the woman that determines whether the female egg is fertilized leading to the birth of a new human being  or whether the egg is discarded unfertilized.  In this example the man is the affirmative impulse, the woman the receptive impulse and the new baby the reconciling impulse.

The affirmative can be described in mundane terms as intent, aim, destiny, goal or the achievement of something.  The receptive is the resistance, challenge or deflection of the affirmative and acts independently from the affirmative. The reconciling impulse is the result, outcome, manifestation or realization representing the actual change that occurs.

Returning to the Rune KA the song from the Havamal reads: “The six song I know when a warrior hurts me with the roots of  softwood, the warrior that awakens the hate in me will be struck down before he gets to me.”  This beautifully demonstrates the capability of the Rune KA to negate a force and redirect it. In that sense the feminine principle of KA can be well illustrated.  The warrior represents the male force that is directed by the Rune KA.

In the sequencing of the rune KA the rune is well positioned in the sixth position where six is often represented as 2×3 or the coming together of a downward pointing and an upward pointing triangle. In essence the coming together of the Affirmative and the Receptive.  In the rune course the first six runes of the Armanen Futhorkh is about setting intent, directing intent and increasing intent. However, these comes only into being in the light of KA and the capability of the runester to undrstand and work with the reconciling impulse of KA.

The law of three is often describes the affirmative, receptive and reconciling cycle  as the process of arising, coming into being and passing away. KA is at the end of the arising meaning it is a critical point of determining what will come into being.  When we look at the descending and ascending pairs e.g.  FA – GIBOR,  UR – EH, THORN – YR, OS – MAN, RIT- LAF….etc then we see KA combining with the other strong feminine Rune BAR. BAR stands at the beginning of the cycle of passing away.  Like KA is conception when a male sperm fertilizing a female egg, so the Rune BAR represents the birth of the baby child.

Numerically KA is the sixth rune and it ties to MAN the 15th rune because 1+5 = 6. MAN is esoterically the male counterpart of the feminine principle  in the regeneration of man where MAN and YR combines through EH  into GIBOR the dynamic counterpart of HAGAL.  KA, BAR and YR are all runes that exemplifies the feminine aspect as  being a receptive force.

It is important to note that esoteric and exoteric perspectives are not mutually exclusive. In fact, many traditions teach that both perspectives are important for understanding the truth. The exoteric teachings of the are like a map, while the esoteric teachings are like the territory itself. The map is useful for orienting oneself, but one cannot truly understand the territory until one has experienced it directly.

To conclude: I interpret the esoteric feminine principle of the Rune KA,  as the power to receive, nurture, and transform. KA is the sixth rune in the Futhark, and it is associated with the womb, the receptive principle, and the creative potential of the feminine. KA is a powerful force of transformation, and that it can be used to change the course of events.

Here are some specific examples of how the esoteric feminine principle of the Rune KA can be interpreted and applied:

  • In business, KA can be used to create a receptive and nurturing environment for new ideas and innovation.
  • In relationships, KA can be used to foster open communication and understanding.
  • In personal growth, KA can be used to receive and integrate new insights and perspectives.
  • In spirituality, KA can be used to open the heart and mind to the divine.

Ultimately, the esoteric Feminine principle of the Rune KA is a reminder of the power and potential that lies within all of us. It is a force that can be used to create a better world for ourselves and for others.
