Are there still real blogger forums where bloggers just write about their life and thoughts?
It seems to me that blogging has become focused for specialist trying to establish themselves as so called “experts” in a given field and then blogging becomes an enterprise chasing after webtraffic in an over growded space. I think of the Xanga community were people just shared their lives and enjoyed the process of writing and sharing their thoughts. (Many of the younger people on the web will probably not even recall a community called Xanga.) Maybe like Xanga found out, such blogging does not generate money and anybody following a similar route is bound to end up to be closed down. Few people are willing to do their blogging for just the sake of blogging and pay for it.
WordPress allows one to create specialised blogs where one can based it on a theme and just write on those topics that interest you and where you can build up a list of followers. But I miss those blogs where you learned about people and their lives, where they shared their successes and failures. Today maybe many people do it through social media like FaceBook where they share their life but somehow FaceBook is also not that place where one writes with an intensity. Facebook is a place where people that knows you tries to pry into your life but is not really interested in who you are. In the old Xanga community it was about people and not just ideas and making money. You knew the people and they became friends. I still have facebook friends of my Xanga days that stay in touch via facebook.
Sure one can search through wordpress and find interesting reads but somehow the community aspect is lost in the search for traffic and for the yearning to be considered some expert. Mybe there is still a place in the market to start again a blogging community that is aimed at people meeting because they have common interests and share in the failures and successes of life.
