A Journey Through the Minds of Klimt and de Chirico
There’s something truly captivating about the works of artists who can transport us to entirely different realms, where reality bends and blurs with the surreal. Gustav Klimt and Giorgio de Chirico are two such masters, whose paintings offer a glimpse into hidden worlds of symbolism, mystery, and beauty.
Gustav Klimt – Thr tree of life
Klimt’s golden masterpieces, like “The Kiss” and “The Tree of Life,” are a feast for the eyes. His intricate patterns and lavish use of gold create a sense of opulence and luxury, but beneath the surface lies a deeper meaning. Klimt was drawn to symbolism and esoteric concepts, drawing inspiration from ancient cultures and philosophies. The figures in his paintings often represent archetypal characters, and the symbolism is layered and complex.
Giorgio de Chirico – The Song of Love
De Chirico’s work, on the other hand, is characterized by its eerie, dreamlike landscapes and enigmatic figures. His paintings, like “The Song of Love” and “The Disquieting Muses,” evoke a sense of mystery and unease. The objects in his compositions, such as mannequins, chessboards, and railway tracks, often carry symbolic significance. De Chirico’s art is often associated with hidden knowledge and the subconscious mind, making it a fascinating exploration of the human psyche.
Both Klimt and de Chirico were artists who dared to push the boundaries of conventional art. Their work is not only visually stunning but also intellectually stimulating. It invites us to delve deeper into the meaning behind their compositions, to uncover the hidden symbols and explore the depths of their imaginations.
Your life without a computer: what does it look like?
Books, maps, shopping – without computers?
A life without computers? Impossible? You’re giving away your age, my young friend. I grew up in the heyday when none of these fancy gadgets existed. It’s not a dream from the stone age for me but a lived reality!
A life without computers was filled with the textured feeling and smell of a new book in your hands. Books were like the e-readers of their time, but without a screen.
There was the excitement of waiting for a newspaper to arrive at your doorstep. We actually had to go out to buy groceries and other items. Shopping was a social activity where people gathered to touch, feel, and taste products before buying them.
We could still remember our way to an address or figure out how to get to an end destination with a map. We had to fold them up and stuff them in our pockets. It was like a real-life adventure every time we went somewhere.
We met in parks, gave each other real hugs and heard our friends actually laughing. When we did not like something they did we told them straight in their face. Our friendships were real…. Authentic!
It’s easy to take for granted all the conveniences and tools we have today, from smartphones to food delivery apps to e-books. But it’s also important to remember that there was a lot of charm and simplicity in life before computers.
You might see boredom and lack in a life without computers, but let me tell you it was a life of many blessings. The skills and dexterity of times gone by might be forever lost for future generations.
The best skill I learned is the runic magnetic stare. Kummer was my first introduction to the Armanen runes. His method had an immense impact on me and when I return to basics for me it is a return to the first two lessons of his curriculum.
It’s important to note that Kummer represents a method that is well designed as a system where each element amplifies the process.
Kummer’s method leads the rune practitioner to a powerful and persuasive presence that gives an inner confidence . His teachings are a highly effective means for self-development and self-mastery. In essence the initial method consists of rune posture, breathing, visualization, affirmation and ethics progressively mastered until all can be put into practice as a whole.
I will paraphrase Kummer’s method in my own words according to my own experience. For Kummer’s words, I suggest you go and read his book: Rune Might.
His method consists of the following basic steps:
1) Stand in the IS-posture, focusing on the whole upright being, present as an antenna for cosmic vibrations. Do so until you can achieve 10 minutes in the IS posture. It’s worth reviewing the meaning of the IS rune before doing the exercise in terms of the inner man that is the centre of all experience.
2) Add a breathing, an affirmation and visualization.
Breathing: Do deep neutral breathing, seven counts, each on both the inhale and exhale with no pauses between the inhale and exhale.
The affirmation: “I am your supervisor, you have to obey me fully and completely. All muscle twitches are eliminated, starting today. You have to submit to me now I want you to stand in front of your superior, your Ich” This affirmation is important because it asserts your dominance over your own body and mind, which is an essential first step in developing your magnetic presence.
The vizualization: Vizualize with all your senses the ideal man…the “master within” until you become totally unaware of your own body. I use the description of the Norse hero Siegfried in the Volsunga Saga for this vizualization. Master the posture, breathing, affirmation and visualization for ten minutes.
3) Develop a magnetic gaze by staring at the centre of the Hagal rune without twitching your eyes. As you stare at the centre of the HAGAL rune, focus on the essence of the rune’s meaning and its connection to your inner power and presence. Master this for seven minutes. (See the importance of the first exercises to be able to do this exercise. Draw from the vizualization to accomplish this. Also note the coincidence of seven minutes, seven counts and the seventh rune). It’s worth reviewing the meaning of HAGAL before doing the practice in terms of the outer world manifesting in the outer world of man.
4) Practise the same look, no muscle twitching of the eyes, by looking into a mirror and focusing on the bridge of your nose between the eyebrows. Kummer calls this “the organ of personality” (Achieve seven minutes of this practice) You might perceive the HAGAL rune forming at that point of focus between the eyebrows. Practice speaking with a deep calm voice that reflects the inner calm achieved by these exercises.
The HAGAL rune as point of focus
5) Apply the magnetic stare achieved and the calm voice when speaking to other people. This will empower your Runic presence.
6) Practice with a clear ethical ethos by completing the practice with this affirmation: “I am full of health and power, the magnetism in me is growing and strengthening, ever more and more, for my thoughts are noble and good; I will to the best of my knowledge and ability, help assist and protect my brothers and sisters, with this magnetic force which this becoming ever stronger in me.”
I hope this short overview of the key elements of Kummer’s approach explains the skill I value highly…the runic magnetic stare. There is much more to consider but the above should suffice as an introduction to Kummer’s method.
In today’s fast-paced world, prioritizing our time is crucial. As someone who practices rune meditation and coaching, I’ve found that combining these two disciplines brings profound benefits. One technique that resonates with me is the IS Rune meditation, developed by Kummer. This unique meditation stands out because it’s practiced standing upright, focusing on the entire body. Unlike other meditations that concentrate on breathing, hands, or compassion, IS Rune meditation synchronizes our body’s frequency with the Earth’s electromagnetic field.
The human body is inherently connected to the Earth’s magnetic field. Our heart generates an electric current that flows through every cell, creating an electromagnetic field that extends beyond our physical body. By aligning our frequency with the Earth’s, we can tap into its balancing effects. Regular IS Rune meditation practice offers numerous benefits. It grounds us, fostering a deeper connection to nature and countering the disorienting effects of modern life. This practice also calms the mind, reducing stress and anxiety, and enhances mental clarity. Beyond physical benefits, IS Rune meditation nurtures spiritual growth and self-awareness. By consciously aligning with the Earth’s energy, we can experience a profound sense of connection to something greater than ourselves. This expanded awareness reveals our purpose, values, and place in the world. Many practitioners attest to the transformative power of IS Rune meditation, reporting increased calmness, grounding, and intuition. By incorporating this simple yet powerful practice into your daily routine, you may discover a renewed sense of balance, peace, and well-being.
Feeling tired? Want to try something new to boost your energy? My answer is Rune yoga or Rune gymnastics! Language is powerful, and symbols that resemble sound in the form of letters are even more so! Rune yoga emulates these symbols, representing speech. But it’s not just about the sounds; each symbol carries deep cosmic meaning. Confused? Here’s how it works: The old Norse developed a writing system called runes. They used it like we use an alphabet today. But these symbols weren’t just for writing; they were steeped in an ancient cosmology of energies available to humans. Each rune is filled with vibrational energy we can tap into. By mimicking the specific rune with our bodies and chanting its sound, we enter a space of vibrational transformative energies that revitalizes mind and body! Imagine it as an energy cocktail you can drink that gives you an extra boost of feeling good!
Accessing vibrational energy through body postures
What’s amazing is that different runes access different energy fields. Some ground us, while others lift our mood and spirit. It’s like a piano keyboard: different keys represent different notes, and different runes result in different health benefits. We just need to learn each rune’s effect to play a melody of inner well-being. I’m sure there are many ways to boost your energy through diet, sleep, exercise, etc. But for me, it’s delving into the arcane art of Rune postures and their frequencies. Imagine yourself standing in a quiet room, bathed in soft, natural light. You close your eyes and take a deep breath, feeling the cool air fill your lungs. As you exhale, you begin to chant the rune FA, ffffffffffffaaa, its sound echoing through your mind and body. Your body takes on the shape of the rune, your arms outstretched like branches reaching for the sky. You can feel the tension melting away from your muscles, replaced by a sense of calm and centeredness. The vibration of the rune’s sound seems to pulsate through your entire being, a comforting warmth spreading through your chest. As you continue to chant, you visualize the rune’s meaning: wealth and abundance. You can almost taste the sweetness of success, the feeling of satisfaction that comes from achieving your goals. The rune’s energy fills you with a sense of optimism and hope, a belief that good things are coming your way. Rune yoga is more than just physical exercise; it’s a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. By connecting with the ancient wisdom of the runes, you can tap into a powerful source of energy and unlock your full potential.
