The Tower

The earth tremors as the castle falls.
Bricks and mortar crashing down,
years of defence and stronghold gone.
The pride of yesterday, only a ruin now.
Sorrow in present day.

Alone against the horde the defences failed.
Hungry eyes sought the gold with plunder
and thus a generous King died in vain;
his deeds forgotten in the dust of the fallen.
Lost for future generations.

Will a knight come by and see the vista
and bring the courage and persistence to rebuild?
To ignite the light that restores the vision,
else darkness will be the future condition.
Dull yesterday’s memories of glory.

The hope is for traces of the past to remain.
The annals hidden in the vault underneath the rubble
to reveal past victories and tell its tale.
The truth veiled in mystery of myth and legend.
Sparking the promise of a new dawn.

Responsibility

All look at the pillar of strength
There is no other
No one to look at for help
The gods the only hope
Under full strain
The cracks unseen is felt
Slowly growing to breaking point
A tragedy is looming unexpected
The tower wall will crumble
The crushing dust cloud
Darkens the sky

Rocks remains in a pile
A new towe to  be build
The pillar long forgotten
That originally stood still
Bearing the blackened weight
On silence no complaints
Just a vague memory
The glory that once was
