~ overcoming writer’s blog ~

Question:

My favorite way to overcome writers block is morning pages. What do you do?

Answer:
I start my day with 10 minutes of free-flow writing by hand, accompanied by calming meditation music from the Insight Timer app. I let my thoughts flow freely, without censoring myself, and I don’t worry about grammar or punctuation. When I’m finished, I read through my writing and use voice dictation to transcribe it into my Evernote app. I then edit the grammar and punctuation, and I start to streamline my writing. I look for ways to use the writing, and I give it a title. I then add a tag so I can easily find it later, and I file it away for future use. If the writing is coherent and cohesive, I might publish it on my blog for further input from those who subscribe to my blog. This practice helps me to tap into my subconscious mind and to generate new ideas. It also helps me to improve my writing skills and to become more creative.

Decorating inner space

Let me enter the space within. With all my being, I walk through the inner chambers of my mind. What a beautiful place to visit! Equanimity decorates the walls, and sincerity is the thick carpet for me to walk barefoot on. Yes, I took my worldly shoes off before entering the sacred space of well-being, contemplation, contentment, and acceptance.

I love the lush gardens of my inner world and exploring its beauty and intricacies. The growing stems formed, by the virtues I treasure, grow well to form a hedge of protection, a firm boundary that keeps this most mystical and sacred place alive and well. So many life experiences have helped to make this an extraordinary landscape for me to enjoy and to walk slowly through the corridors of my mind.

The air I breathe is love and care. I gently look at the pictures in front of me and allow the peace to wash over me. Here, there is a reassuring intercom that is ever unperturbed. I stay for a little bit longer to absorb it fully and make the space part of my being for the rest of the day.

I truly am here now, grateful to be present and accepting what is as it is.

Don’t neglect your inner world. Take today a break from the rush of the world and enjoy your inner world. If your inner world does not bring you beauty then remember that you are the creator of your inner world. Begin today to reshape and reframe your space of being.
