Decorating inner space

Let me enter the space within. With all my being, I walk through the inner chambers of my mind. What a beautiful place to visit! Equanimity decorates the walls, and sincerity is the thick carpet for me to walk barefoot on. Yes, I took my worldly shoes off before entering the sacred space of well-being, contemplation, contentment, and acceptance.

I love the lush gardens of my inner world and exploring its beauty and intricacies. The growing stems formed, by the virtues I treasure, grow well to form a hedge of protection, a firm boundary that keeps this most mystical and sacred place alive and well. So many life experiences have helped to make this an extraordinary landscape for me to enjoy and to walk slowly through the corridors of my mind.

The air I breathe is love and care. I gently look at the pictures in front of me and allow the peace to wash over me. Here, there is a reassuring intercom that is ever unperturbed. I stay for a little bit longer to absorb it fully and make the space part of my being for the rest of the day.

I truly am here now, grateful to be present and accepting what is as it is.

Don’t neglect your inner world. Take today a break from the rush of the world and enjoy your inner world. If your inner world does not bring you beauty then remember that you are the creator of your inner world. Begin today to reshape and reframe your space of being.

The mystics path

The mystic gains knowledge through contemplating the teachings of all humanity across the ages and cross-referencing it with actual experience. Developing a personal philosophy based on the most lofty thinking coherent with the knowledge gained as well as the contemplation on experiences. The mystic endeavours to understand the natural and spiritual laws behind the observed experiences. As the mystic enters within to connect with the Divine, and expands to connect with and serve other people he begins to live in accord with spiritual and natural laws. The mystic becomes attuned to new insights coming through meditation and contemplation of how to refine his perception and live according with higher order laws.

Havamal contemplations – Stanza 1

I consider the Havamal, or song of the High one, as the book of wisdom in Norse mythology. Written in about 1270 its words are attributed to the god Odin and contains practical wisdom that can still be applied in today’s world. The language is ancient, and there are many translations so what I will try to offer is a modern interpretation on each text.

STANZA 1

Life is hazardous. Whenever you enter into an uncertain situation, be mindful and understand the risks thoroughly even when it seems inviting and safe. Know your boundaries and gain as much as possible knowledge before proceeding. Always have a healthy respect for the possible hidden dangers you may face. Don’t be caught off guard.

Contemplation

I am at a beach house, where I have the luxury to contemplate life in general and my life more specifically. This time of listening to my inner being is precious. Age gives contemplation more texture. All my experience can by poured into a deeper contemplation. Maybe as I near the end, it’s just a simple case of being more grateful for the blessings of life. Youth is much more fickle and easy to upset when things are not right. Now it is easier for me to look from a higher perspective and see the present moment in context of a lifetime of experiences, of which we only remember a fraction.

It is these moments of being quiet that inspire me to live with an active mind, keen awareness of life and it’s various experiences. Both the good and the bad is shaping my inner soul add it absorbs life experiences. All these experiences contribute to developing a purity of heart, and an eagerness to expand my consciousness and sharpen my conscience.

When we do this contemplation without comparing ourselves with others a new freedom opens up to be authentic. We can look at past mistakes with amusement, without embarrassment and see how we allowed those moments to shape our thoughts and feelings. In the awareness of the past we can have an expectation that the future will continue to shape us. Then every breathing moment becomes precious.
