A harmonious week of spiritual growth

Describe your ideal week.

In the intricate flow of time, each day radiates with a unique pattern of cosmic influence. Just as the seven notes of a musical scale harmonize to create a melody, so too do the seven days of the week offer a harmonious symphony of spiritual growth. My ideal week is to align my actions with the seven divine miracles associated with each day of the week, revealing the profound potential for transformation and enlightenment that lies within us all.

The harmony of an ideal week

Sunday: The Miracle of Healing
As the sun, the life-giving force of the universe, illuminates our path on Sunday, so too does the Miracle of Healing awaken our inner vitality. This day invites us to bask in the warmth of divine love, mending our wounds and rejuvenating our spirits. Through practices such as meditation, yoga, and spending time in nature, we can tap into the healing power within and restore our sense of wholeness.

Monday: The Miracle of Inner Illumination
Governed by the moon, Monday is a day for introspection and intuition. The Miracle of Inner Illumination encourages us to delve into the depths of our consciousness and connect with our inner light. By practicing mindfulness, journaling, and self-reflection, we can uncover the wisdom and clarity that resides within us.

Tuesday: The Miracle of Transformation
The fiery energy of Mars fuels Tuesday, a day for courage, determination, and change. The Miracle of Transformation empowers us to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and evolution. Through physical activity, goal-setting, and stepping outside of our comfort zones, we can harness the transformative power within us and propel ourselves towards our highest potential.

Wednesday: The Miracle of Multiplication
Mercury, the planet of communication and intellect, governs Wednesday. This day is associated with learning, growth, and abundance. The Miracle of Multiplication invites us to expand our consciousness and manifest our desires. By engaging in intellectual pursuits, networking, and cultivating a positive mindset, we can attract abundance into our lives.

Thursday: The Miracle of Overcoming the Impossible
Jupiter, the planet of expansion and wisdom, rules Thursday. This day is associated with growth, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment. The Miracle of Overcoming the Impossible challenges us to break free from limitations and embrace the infinite possibilities of the universe. Through visualization, affirmations, and acts of service, we can tap into the boundless potential within us and overcome any obstacle that comes our way.

Friday: The Miracle of Restoring Innocence and Purity
Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and harmony, governs Friday. This day is associated with relationships, creativity, and pleasure. The Miracle of Restoring Innocence and Purity invites us to reconnect with our inner child and experience the joy of pure being. Through acts of kindness, self-care, and creative expression, we can cultivate a sense of peace, love, and harmony within ourselves.

Saturday: The Miracle of Rebirth
Saturn, the planet of structure, discipline, and time, rules Saturday. This day is associated with reflection, introspection, and renewal. The Miracle of Rebirth encourages us to let go of the old and embrace the new. Through meditation, journaling, and planning for the week ahead, we can release any negative energy and prepare ourselves for a fresh start.

By aligning the seven miracles with the seven days of the week, I create a powerful framework for daily spiritual practice. Each day offers a unique opportunity to connect with a specific aspect of the divine and to cultivate its corresponding qualities within myself. As I embark on this sacred journey, these miracles of divine light are not distant, unattainable concepts, but rather inherent potentials that reside within me, waiting to be awakened. By embracing these miracles and living in alignment with their energy, I open myself up to profound transformation, healing, and enlightenment.

A secret smile

Ah, the secret #smile, a pleasure reserved for those delightfully absurd moments alone. There I was, after spiritual teaching, feeling rather accomplished, when a nonsensical truth popped into existence. It was like realizing I spend half my life searching for my glasses, only to have them perched on my head the whole time. The same went for my outfit today – meticulously planned, only to crave the comfort and warmthn of my favorite sweater.
In these moments, a silent grin spreads across my face. It’s a self-deprecating chuckle, a knowing nod to the absurdity of it all. It’s a moment of quiet communion with the universe, a shared recognition of the nonsensical beauty of existence. In my smile, there’s a touch of amusement, a hint of bewilderment, and a whole lot of “Yep, that’s just how things go around here.”

Hacking My Day: Habits for Happiness and Creativity

What are your daily habits?

~ Hacking My Day: Habits for Happiness and Creativity ~

Habits are like tiny bursts of rocket fuel that propel us towards a smoother, more fulfilling day. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of cultivating beneficial habits that I enjoy. However, habits can also become mindless routines or sources of anxiety if we get too rigid. To keep things interesting and avoid burnout, I find it essential to incorporate variety into my daily rituals.

The first hour after waking up is my golden time. I seize this opportunity to jumpstart my creativity through automatic writing, blogging, or contemplation. To prime my mind for inspiration, I begin with a quick autogenic relaxation exercise, followed by at least ten minutes of free-flowing writing. Imagine me, diving headfirst into my creativity like an enthusiastic swimmer on a hot summer’s day!

Before my morning shower, I take a moment to program myself with the five Reiki spiritual principles. I commit to staying enthusiastic, calm, grateful, honorable, and compassionate. Each principle is reinforced with a corresponding rune posture and chant. This establishes a positive foundation for the day ahead.

After showering, I light a candle to symbolize the kindling of light, life force, and love. Then, I perform a three-rune reading to identify the energetic forces that will influence my day. I interpret the runes using the law of three: affirmation, reception, and reconciliation. This practice injects a sense of adventure into my day, allowing me to tap into my creativity and courage.

Before diving into work, I take a quick moment to check my calendar and plan my day. This helps me prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.

At midday, I steal away for a minimum of 20 minutes of meditation. Depending on the day, moon cycle, and season, I might use Gassho meditation as a base and branch out to Zazen, Metta, or Yoga Nidra.

Evenings are for self-care. Ideally, I unwind with some breathing exercises followed by a 36-minute rune yoga routine that incorporates chanting, postures, and mantras. If I have a specific goal in mind, I might tailor the rune sequence to emphasize my intention.

Before calling it a day, I take a moment to express gratitude by journaling in my Dailio app, which I use to track habits and mood. To wind down, I spend 10 minutes reading an inspirational book or scripture.

As I drift off to sleep, I choose one of three practices:
Visualizing peace, health, and happiness for loved ones and the world.
Recalling the day in reverse, starting from the present moment and journeying back to the morning.
Active listening, which involves focused breathing followed by listening to white noise.

These are the daily habits that fuel my life. While I don’t always follow the exact routine, I find that structuring my day around these rituals brings me the greatest peace, happiness, and sense of connection.

Ditch the Heater, Cuddle the Canine: Sustainable Living Hacks from a South African Home.

Are there things you try to practice daily to live a more sustainable lifestyle?

Ditch the Heater, Cuddle the Canine: Sustainable Living Hacks from a South African Home.

The winter’s blanket of cold frost covers the landscape. A few mountain peaks in the distance proudly gleam with snow-white tips. Nature remains blissfully unaware of the struggles of the power grid, stretched to its maximum by humans trying to stay warm at night. Me? I sleep warm and cozy, but there’s no electric blanket here. Instead, I cuddle with my three furry canine companions – a small, but comfortable contribution to sustainable living that I make with gratitude (and maybe a little sacrifice during the day).

These adorable doggy warmers need the freedom to roam outside throughout the day, which means my front door remains open, welcoming the winter chill like an old friend. No heaters in the house to drive out the chill. A warm jersey and a jacket are as warming and sustainable as any heater, and they don’t dry out the air or cause sudden temperature changes.
This isn’t just more sustainable, it’s also more healthy – a natural immune system boost that sends shivers down the spines of those pesky winter bugs.

Water conservation is another pillar of sustainable living, and here in the arid Western Cape, it’s second nature. No warm baths wasting gallons of water. You jump in, get wet, close the tap, soap up, and rinse clean. Sustainable living means reducing your energy consumption footprint and saving scarce resources like water.

But for us living in the Western Cape, South Africa, it’s not just a choice, it’s a way of life.  For all of us, though, adopting these practices, big or small, can make a big difference for our planet. Stay warm and stay healthy!

~ Loss as a Teacher: Embracing the Pain ~

~ Loss as a Teacher: Embracing the Pain ~

Loss is an inevitable part of life. It can strip away our sense of security and leave us feeling profoundly alone. But loss, as painful as it is, can also be a powerful teacher. It can teach us about impermanence, about the preciousness of what we have, and about the importance of letting go.

The idea that loss can be a teacher is rooted in the concept of non-attachment. Non-attachment doesn’t mean that we don’t care about the people and things in our lives. It simply means that we don’t cling to them so tightly that we are devastated when they are gone.

When we experience loss, it can force us to confront our attachments. It can make us realize how much we have been clinging to a person, a place, or a situation. This realization can be painful, but it can also be liberating.

By understanding that loss is a natural part of life, we can begin to let go of our attachments. This doesn’t mean that we forget about the people or things we have lost. It simply means that we allow ourselves to grieve without being consumed by grief.

Letting go of our attachments can also help us to reconnect with our universal intelligence. This intelligence, whatever you choose to call it, is the source of all life and love. When we are attached to things outside ourselves, we can lose sight of this connection. But when we let go, we open ourselves up to the possibility of a deeper connection with something larger than ourselves, a connection to the vast and mysterious cosmos.

This cosmic intelligence can be a source of strength, solace, and awe during times of loss. It can remind us that we are not alone, and that even in the midst of pain, there is still love and light. Our awareness of this mysterious presence, of love, light and connection, increases as we turn within, in silence to listen.

Of course, intellectual understanding doesn’t erase the pain of loss. There is no shortcut through grief. We simply have to work our way through it, one day at a time. But by allowing ourselves to feel the pain, and by learning the lessons that loss has to teach us, we can eventually emerge from the darkness stronger and more whole.

When we turn within, in silence, to listen, we are opening ourselves up to the possibility of reconnecting with our universal intelligence. This intelligence can be a source of strength, solace, and awe during times of loss. It can remind us that we are not alone, and that even in the midst of pain, there is still love and light.

There is no one right way to turn within. Some people find it helpful to meditate, while others prefer to pray or spend time in nature. The important thing is to find a practice that allows you to quiet your mind and connect with your inner wisdom.

As you turn within, you may experience a sense of peace, love, or connection. You may also receive insights or guidance about how to cope with your loss. Trust your intuition and be open to whatever arises.

By turning within, you can begin to heal the pain of loss and reconnect with your universal intelligence. This can be a powerful source of strength and comfort during difficult times.
