Intentions Over Resolutions: A Vision for the New Year

A New Year’s resolution is typically a commitment to change a specific behavior, such as quitting smoking or starting to exercise. An intention, however, focuses on a broader goal or aspiration you want to achieve within the year. While resolutions are often made with sincerity, they frequently fail because they lack the structural link between the intent and the practical steps needed to realize it. For example, the failure to establish supportive habits often makes it challenging to sustain the resolution.

An alternative and more effective approach is to focus on the outcome in terms of who you want to be or become. This involves creating a vivid, emotionally charged visualization of your desired future self. Instead of simply setting a goal like “get fit,” imagine and deeply feel what it would be like to live as a fit person. Picture the energy, confidence, and joy you would experience, and craft a mental “movie script” of your life once you’ve achieved this state.

Taking it a step further, you can recognize that fitness itself is the result of a more disciplined life. Rather than envisioning only the physical aspects of fitness, you might focus on what it means to embody discipline. Imagine yourself consistently showing up for your commitments, managing your time effectively, and staying focused on your priorities. Visualize how it feels to live with clarity, purpose, and control over your choices.

By creating and regularly revisiting this compelling vision—whether it’s about being fit, disciplined, or both—you align your actions with your aspirations. This approach naturally draws you toward your desired future, reducing inner resistance and making change feel effortless and inspiring rather than forced.

Harnessing the Moon’s Rhythm for Personal Growth

The moon’s phases offer a powerful framework for self-improvement. By incorporating intention setting, affirmations, gratitude, and acceptance throughout the cycle, you can tap into well-established psychological principles.

Aligning with the Rhythm:
The new moon, shrouded in darkness, signifies a time for fresh starts.  This aligns perfectly with setting intentions, a form of goal setting infused with ritual and symbolism, making your aspirations feel even more potent.  As the moon waxes, so does your sense of possibility.  Positive affirmations, a core principle of cognitive behavioral therapy, become especially powerful during this growth phase, strengthening neural pathways associated with your goals.

Gratitude and Emotional Release:
The full moon, bathed in light, is often associated with heightened emotions.  Practicing gratitude during this phase can be particularly effective, boosting happiness and contentment.  The moon’s intensity can also encourage emotional release.  Journaling or meditation can facilitate a healthy catharsis.  Finally, the waning moon signifies a period of winding down.  Focusing on acceptance allows you to acknowledge what is beyond your control and fosters peace, a crucial component of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

The Power of Ritual and Mindset:
Aligning with the moon cycle incorporates the concept of ritual, providing structure and a sense of control, which can be grounding and reduce anxiety. The cyclical nature of the moon itself is a source of comfort. Knowing that challenges are temporary and new beginnings are always on the horizon can be a powerful mental health tool.

Limitations and Individuality:
It’s important to remember that the moon’s influence is likely psychological, not physiological.  The effectiveness of this practice hinges on the chosen practices and the individual’s beliefs.  While the moon cycle can be a helpful framework, overreliance on it can downplay the importance of consistent effort.

Ultimately, aligning with the moon cycle can be a valuable tool for self-reflection and personal growth, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle.  Remember, the moon serves as a guide, not a determinant.  A growth mindset and consistent effort remain crucial for achieving your goals.

Embracing the Wild to Craft My Destiny

Each day I awaken with the untamed potential of a wild ox, brimming with raw, primal energy. This energy, initially chaotic and uncertain, finds direction through my vision and intention. Just as I rise to meet the needs of my future self, I channel this potent force into a constructive flow, transforming it from a bull in a china shop into a magnificent steed galloping towards my destiny.

Though the journey begins in the embrace of untamed potential, it’s through commitment and focused action that I shape this power into a force for good. By settling in being and unwavering will, I refine the raw energy into a focused current, propelling me towards the vision of my future self.

This transformation unfolds with each deliberate step, each choice made with my future in mind. The once untamed beast becomes a trusted companion, my ally in carving out the path towards my ultimate goals. So, I rise each day, embracing the wild within, knowing that it holds the key to forging the future I desire.

Intention of a soul journey

What is your intention for the journey ahead?
Intention is a purposeful resolve to accomplish something. Intention binds will with passion. Intention = will x passion. If wil is not there or passion is leaving then there is no or little left of intention.
At the moment my life lacks intention in terms of specifics. But ever as a Rosicrucian student and Stoic philosopher my intent is self-mastery directed towards the service of humanity. My intent with the zodiac journey is growth and wholeness, communion with my own soul. I hope to take the contents of the zodiac journey and take it beyond mere mental contemplation into the sphere of having intimate communion with my soul. The zodiac tries to explain a complete view of full soul expression. By studying the zodiac of provides a means for alchemy to progress towards a marriage between sun and moon and a deeper understanding of being a spiritual being.
The student that endeavors to commune frequently with the soul will deepen his or her spiritual acumen, any topic may suffice but some topics are more effective than others. The zodiac offers lots for mental contemplation but also a firm basis for soul communion. So the intent is to be in dialog with the soul and learn to listen to the Master within… And living a beautiful life fully.
What could you actively do now to commit to that intention ?
Commitment is the firm resolve not to give up until something is achieved. A pact is created with self to persist. Commitment is will combined with persistence and determination. I can actively commit time every day for a set period of time to commune with my soul. Maybe a time to focus on each sign’s mantra and allowing it to develop its own pattern to come into existence. In a sense that step has already been taken. I can commit myself to finish the journey, to do all the exercises and to contemplate my progress on this journey.
What are you willing to risk in service of this quest?
Is there a price to big to pay to listen to the Master within? It is not worth a life, for life is needed for the pursuit. I am willing to risk time and commit time to this pursuit. I am willing to accept the risk that I might spend the time and find no real return. I accept that this is a solitary road and that I will not have anybody to share the experience with. I accept the risk that it can divorce me from other people. I am willing to sacrifice my own self perspective and to soften my view of who I think I am and allow myself to see me as I am with more honesty. I will take the risk of acting and behaving differently than what is my norm even if it might shock or confuse others.
