In an airplane, when the oxygen masks pop down, if you try to help others first, you and others will die before you can. But if you put on your own oxygen mask first, you can help others with theirs. Some rulers understand they need to pump oxygen into their own citizenry first in order to be able to help prosper the world with oxygen. To treat others the way you wish to be treated doesn’t work if you’re neglecting your own needs.
